LOCAL CHURCH DONATES OVER 15,000 POUNDS OF FOOD TO CALGARY FOOD BANK THIS YEAR

October 28, 2018 (CALGARY, Alberta) – The Iglesia Ni Cristo (Church Of Christ) recently donated about 6,300 pounds of food donations to the Calgary Food Bank as the Church continued its food drive in this part of Canada. This was in addition to the almost 9,000 pounds of food donations of the INC in Calgary given by INC volunteers early this year, which makes a grand total of over 15,000 pounds, or 7.5 tons, of food donations given by the Church this year.

The staff of the Calgary Food Bank expressed appreciation for this recent
successful Aid To Humanity project of the INC, in cooperation with the Felix Y. Manalo (FYM) Foundation and the volunteer force of the INC Giving Project.

INC volunteers had packed a total of 57 boxes containing 6,283.174 pounds of food for the Calgary Food Bank. This was part of their participation in the Church's worldwide Aid To Humanity project.
This weekend across Canada, members of the Church Of Christ are fighting hunger through food drives through the Aid To Humanity Program of the FYM Foundation.

Such food donations are important according to food bank officials. About 184,000 people used the Calgary Food Bank’s services last year. This year, the same number are expected to again access the food bank’s services.

Several socio-civic programs and activities have been held in Calgary recently, such as police and firefighter appreciation events, a free community breakfast, and singing for the elderly at a care home.

Just last month, the INC worship building in Calgary at 804 MacDonald Avenue SE was reopened after extensive renovations. Ward 9 Councillor Gian-Carlo Carra shared his support for the congregation: “I always say that the church is the soul of a great neighborhood, and, you know, to have an amazing community like this dedicated in the community is amazing, part of what makes our city special,” he said.

In 2016, INC Giving volunteers from all over Alberta also conducted a huge relief effort for the Fort McMurray fire victims.
